Ski width is one of the most important criteria determining the category to which each model belongs. Ski widths are marked as follows: 115/90/107, where 115 is the maximum tip width, 90 the minimum width underfoot and 107 the maximum tail width.
How width influences performance:
Width 63-69mm - Race Carver Skis Skis in this category are designed for maximum performance on groomed pistes, providing the shortest possible time when shifting weight from one edge to the other. They are intended for expert skiers seeking maximum performance in slalom and giant slalom turns.
Width 70-85mm - Piste Skis Skis in this category offer good responsiveness for recreational skiers of every level, versatility for piste snow, good control and increased lateral stability.
Width 85-100mm - All Mountain Skis Skis in this category offer considerable versatility because they can be used in any conditions, from groomed snow to loose snow off the pistes. They have rocker to provide flotation and versatility.
Width 100-110mm - Freeride Skis Skis in this category are designed to provide stability and flotation in loose snow and versatility in variable conditions across the mountain.
Width 110mm+ - Powder Skis Skis in this category are built to provide maximum stability in loose snow. They have very pronounced rocker for maximum flotation in powder.
The rocker profile of a ski is determined by its shape when placed on the ground. There are two main types:
Camber- the downward arch of the ski that directs energy towards the ground and provides more power, stability and edge grip.
Rocker- the upward arch of the ski that provides better flotation in loose snow and helps initiate turns.
Full Camber- Camber across the entire ski for maximum power and precise piste control.
Rocker/Camber/Rocker (All Mountain)- Rocker at the tip and tail for flotation, camber in the middle for grip and stability.
Full Rocker- Rocker along the entire length for maximum flotation in powder, ideal for off-piste.
Radius influences the ski’s behaviour in a turn:
10-16m = Short Radius- carving and all-mountain skis with increased manoeuvrability 17-22m = Medium Radius- all-mountain and freestyle skis for versatility
+22m = Long Radius- powder and big-mountain skis for stability at speed
To choose ski length correctly, the skier’s height, ability and weight, the ski type and personal preferences must be considered.
Beginners: A beginner is recommended to use skis with a length between chin level and 5 cm below for easy manoeuvrability at low speed.
Intermediates: Intermediate skiers who can manage parallel turns at medium speed choose skis with a length between chin level and nose level for increased stability.
Advanced: Advanced skiers who control skis well at high speeds need maximum stability - a length between nose level and eye level.

What ski length should I choose?Length depends on your height, weight and experience level. To begin with, choose skis at chin level.
What is the difference between men’s and women’s skis?Women’s skis are adapted to a different centre of gravity and have flexibility adjusted for women’s weight and skiing style.
How often should I replace my skis?Quality skis last 5-10 years with proper maintenance, depending on how frequently they are used.
Can I use the same skis on every slope?All-mountain skis are versatile and suitable for most conditions, but specialised skis are recommended for maximum performance in specific conditions.
What does waxing mean and how important is it?Waxing is the application of wax to the ski base for speed and protection. Professional waxing is recommended at the beginning of every season.
